June 6 – 30, 2017
Opening reception June 6 at 6:30pm
The Edward J. & Helen Jane Morrison Gallery at the University of Minnesota, Morris presents Range: An exhibit for and about the rural spirit. Artworks included in this exhibition vary from material based mixed media, digitally manipulated photography, bronze and steel sculpture, as well as plein air painting, abstraction, and contemporary printmaking.
The exhibit shows a range of media, but also a range in conceptual scope, presenting images made on the prairie, images of our interaction with the land, conundrums about the politics of land, and work celebrating beauty in or of the countryside, and created by those from a rural state of mind. Artists represented hail from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North and South Dakota, as well as from the East, West, and Southern United States.
The mission of the Edward J. & Helen Jane Morrison Gallery is to provide a dynamic and accessible venue that supports the educational, cultural, and artistic experiences of students, faculty and the community. The gallery promotes diverse cultural and personal perspectives in both innovative and traditional art exhibitions, linking our community with the global art world.
